Artist duo producing provocative, playful, risk-taking projects to spark dynamic conversations about our changing world

In 2016 Cape Farewell presented HeHe’s Cloud Crash at the Science and Industry Museum in Manchester. A headline event for the Manchester Science Festival 2016 and the third in our series of Lovelock Art Commission.

They also created the work Domestic Disaster 3: Planet Earth for Cape Farewell’s Carbon 12 exhibition at Espace Fondation EDF, Paris in 2012. The artwork recreated a miniaturized polluted atmosphere placed on a world map. Colourful and artificial, animated by a slow and steady movement, accompanied by a sound choreography, the atmosphere echoed the research on fluid dynamics led by Jean-Marc Chomaz (CNRS, Laboratoire LadHyX, France).

HeHe are an artist duo consisting of Helen Evans (French, British) and Heiko Hansen (German) based in Le Havre, France. Using a language based on light, sound and image, their practice explores the relationship between the individual and their architectural and urban environment.

Their work has been presented in contemporary art exhibitions, design shows, media art festivals and technology research conferences such as the Palazzo delle Papesse in Sienna, the Centre Georges Pompidou, CynetArt Festival in Dresden and the Pervasive Computing Conference. Alongside commissions and exhibitions, they have taught at the Interaction Design Institute Ivrea in Italy, the National School of Industrial Design in Paris (Les Ateliers), and the University of Amsterdam.
