SIREN POETS 2021

Following the success of our 2020 SIREN Poets programme, we have exciting plans to bring the new work created to live audiences. In June, our four artists - Shagufta K Iqbal, Peter Bearder, Liv Torc and Chris White - will come together for two days of development rehearsals before performing their scratch show at one of the UK's leading Festivals this summer.  In late 2021/early 2022 our SIRENS show will go on tour to venues, bringing this unique take on the climate emergency to audiences and communities across the South West.

SIREN POETS 2020 FINALE - WATCH NOW

Filmed live at Cape Farewell's HQ, the Watershed, in October 2020 when the Siren Poet artists came together to celebrate and share their work.

Siren Poets conjured a conversation from the ashes which were beginning to settle after the first few turbulent months of the Covid19 pandemic. Through our digital platforms they listened, felt, connected, created and shared new work underpinned by the climate emergency challenge, the ongoing crisis that now runs parallel with the pandemic.

  • SIRENS

Written collaboratively by Shagufta Iqbal, Peter Bearder, Liv Torc and Chris White, we present SIRENS, an evocative poem to launch this project and give a taste of what's to come.

  • PLASTICLES

Life in Plastic is an ongoing (by which we mean unfinished) project where Chris White talks to a bunch of people (including himself) about their the plastic in their life.

  • GENEROUS EARTH

The first of three films created during his time as a Siren Poet with Cape Farewell, Pete (The Temp) Bearder launches this song in Gratitude to Gaia, with sublime vocals from Florence Pardoe.

  • NEW NORMAL

Pete (The Temp) Bearder's second Siren Poets film. Experimental sound poetry about mental health, climate change and Covid-19.

  • I SPOKE TO THE EARTH

Responding to Liv Torc’s Siren Poets project and six amazing Challengers, 60 workshop participants went out into nature to have a conversation with the Earth.

  • SPONSOR AN ACTIVIST

Pete (The Temp) Bearder's final Siren Poets film. A charity advert parody. With thanks to Counterstate Films and Angelfish Films.

The Siren Poets

As Cape Farewell’s emergency cultural response to the pandemic and with support from Arts Council England, the Siren Poets project will be a highly interactive, accessible and collaborative process in which absolutely anybody is welcome. By addressing human-induced environmental impact, our artists will inspire the poet in us all and show how through art, we can help generate a sustainable cultural shift.
