Martha Wainwright joined Cape Farewell on the 2008 Disko Bay Expedition, visiting the spectacular Disko Bay area of West Greenland with over 40 international artists, journalists and scientists. She features in our film Burning Ice, directed by Peter Gilbert and based on the 2008 expedition, alongside musicians Laurie Anderson, KT Tunstall, Jarvis Cocker, Ryuichi Sakamoto and Feist.

Martha is a Canadian-American folk-pop singer. She is the sister of Rufus Wainwright and the daughter of Loudon Wainwright III and Kate McGarrigle. Her style has been described as a melding of folk, rock, country, and chanson singing. She recently duetted with Snow Patrol at the V Festival, and performed with her brother at the Hollywood Bowl in September 2007. In 2007 she joined forces with Annie Lennox and 22 other female artists to raise awareness of the transmission of HIV to unborn children in Africa.
