The Walk from the Garden

Salisbury International Arts Festival

Inspired by the theme of Paradise Lost and by his experience in the fragile Arctic environment, Jonathan Dove who is celebrated internationally for his operatic and choral creations, has composed a new church opera especially for the Festival and its resonant Cathedral landscape, in partnership with collaborator and weaver of words Alasdair Middleton. Scored for forces both delicate and powerful, including soprano, tenor, string quartet, organ, timpani, and the Salisbury Festival Chorus and Salisbury Community Choir, the performance is directed by Ben Wright and explores Adam and Eve’s journey out of the Garden of Eden.
