A poetry collection: The Farewell Glacier
Book launch by Nick Drake
Event Tuesday, 24 April 2012 from 6.30pm
Lower Ground Floor at Waterstones, The Grand Building, Trafalgar Square, London WC2N 5EJ
Entrance fee £9.50
Nick Drake's latest collection gather together voices from across the Arctic past – explorers, whalers, mapmakers, scientists, financiers, the famous and the forgotten – as well as attempting to give voice to the confronting mysteries of the high Arctic: the animal spirits, the shape-shifters and the powers of ice and tundra. The collection looks into the future, to the year 2100, when this glorious winter Eden will have vanished forever. Nicks participation in the 2010 Arctic voyage was the stimulator and provider of many of the pieces.
Nick reads poems of the collection and will talk with Matt Clarke, fellow voyager and creater of the 'High Arctic' exhbition at the National Maritime Museum, about the Arctic, his poems and the year 2100.
